What is the difference between microcement, venetian plaster, and textured paint
Microcement is a high-quality concrete-like stucco constisting of microcement powder and acrylic resin. It is applied in two layers on floors, walls, and furniture, both indoors and outdoors.
Venetian plasters are an alternative to microcement for walls. They are available in a wide variety of finishes and are applied with a trowel.
Textured paints, such as limewash are a decorative alternative to traditional wall paint. They are applied with a brush or roller.
How to Apply Venetian Plaster on a Wall
1. Choose Your Style
Start by deciding which type of finish you want to achieve.
2. Prepare The Surface
Make sure that your wall is even, dry, and clean. If necessary, use our Putty Primer to fill holes and level the wall.
3. Apply The Wall Plaster
Follow the instructions for mixing and application found on each product page. There, you’ll also find a video tutorial showing how to apply each plaster.
4. Optionally: Seal With PU Topcoat
In wet rooms, or to achieve a waterproof, easy-to-clean surface, apply our PU Finish on the cured venetian plaster. We recommend two layers.
Can I apply the venetian plaster for walls outdoors?
Yes, our venetian plasters for walls can be applied outdoors.
Can I apply the venetian plaster on floors?
No, our plasters for walls can only be applied on walls. To coat floors, we recommend using our microcement.
Can I apply the wall plaster in my bathroom/shower?
Yes, you can apply our venetian plasters for walls in your bathroom or shower. To do so, it is important to seal them with 2 coats of PU Finish.
Can I apply the venetian plaster with a brush or roller?
No, our wall plasters must be applied with a trowel. It is not possible to apply them with a brush or roller.
How do I know how much plaster I need?
You can easily shop the quantities on our website directly in square metres. The quantities listed are for even, smooth walls. We recommend filling and leveling any irregularities with our putty primer beforehand.
Can I add metallic pigment into the concrete effect plaster?
If you wish to only add a metallic shimmer onto your concrete-like plaster, it is possible to add a bit of metallic pigment into the PU Finish.
